NOTE

Kervan delegates the judgement on the scientific validity of the papers submitted to the Journal only to the Editors and the Scientific Committee. However, in consideration of the new disciplinary parameters introduced by the universities for the evaluation of scientific research and accreditation, the Journal may request – if the Authors desire – that the submitted text be judged by two Referees. These Referees, as colleagues with recognized expertise in the specific scientific-disciplinary areas, receive submissions from the Journal by e-mail without the Author’s name affixed or any reference to the Author’s identity (therefore we invite all Authors to send two files of the submission, of which one is without identification). In this phase of evaluation, consequently, the Referees will not know the Author’s real identity nor vice-versa. However, to guarantee the transparency of the process, only in the following year after publication will the Journal communicate the Referees’ identity. The Journal receives from each Referee a report which in turn is sent by e-mail to the other Referee and Author. After examining the Referees’ two subsequent reports, the Editors and Scientific Committee will decide either to publish, reject, or modify the paper in question (in this last case, the revised version will be re-submitted to the Referees for a second judgement). It must be noted that the judgement of the Referees is non binding. The Editors and Scientific Committee reserve the exclusive right whether to publish the submission. The Referees’ report consists of a judgement based on the following criteria: 1) thematic and subject congruence of submission to Journal content and editorial objectives; 2) originality and relevance of approach to subject; 3) coherent and logical development of subject concept; 4) thorough knowledge of relevant literature in field. In the second part of the Referees’ report, mention must be made of the submission’s being a) publishable, or b) not publishable, or c) publishable with corrections/changes (specify).
